Intermission Film launched

This week saw the go-live of the new portfolio site for Intermission, a London based company specialising in the production of movie trailers. The site http://www.intermissionfilm.com showcases the work of the new company, a collaboration between the well-respected All City (winner of Creative Agency of the Year and known for dozens of print campaigns including Black Swan, The Kings Speech and Coriolanus) and new talent Sam Cryer who is already making waves with new trailers for films such as Pusher, Another Earth, Bullhead and Being Flynn.

With the stunning content created by Sam and the graphic design provided by All City, Patchrobe was responsible for integrating the most demanding vision with the most powerful and user friendly site management software possible.

Using Drupal 7 and the Zen theme we wrote custom modules and templates that took Vimeo video URLs and embedded them within the page. Extensive use of jQuery for the interface and the Vimeo Javascript API has resulted in a site which has the smooth transitions, fades and animations that users associate with Flash yet integrated it with a classic content management system. The tiniest detail could be massively time consuming - for example, getting video content to pause when switching between tabs took longer than expected and the custom theming of the jQuery slider had to be repeatedly ported as different implementations failed to provide the functionality we needed.

In the end I think we have arrived at a site we can all be very proud of. We'd like to thank Sam Cryer for letting his work make our work look so good and the fantastic input of David Frost and the All City team whose feedback allowed us to produce such exceptional work.
